Slow Water
Slow water was a project with Freddie Yauner, undertaken for the exhibition of the same name.
Rain Water Harvesting
In summer, garden watering accounts for approximately 70% of mains usage.
This extensive use of water is a major contributor to the drying up of aquifers and the need for drought orders being issued. We want to address this problem of water usage in the garden, encouraging the usage of as much rainwater as possible, making the task of rainwater collection one of enjoyment that works in harmony with the garden.
Volume chair
Currently, the main problem for domestic rain water collection is space. To enable people to water their gardens with rain water rather than mains water, they need to be able to store large quantities of rain water from spring rainfalls until summer, when watering the garden becomes necessary.
The Volume Chair is an illustration of one of many possibilities for storage of water within existing garden infrastructures. It is a (contemporary and luxurious) piece of furniture from which you can enjoy your garden. The chair will be rotation moulded, slightly thinner than would be the norm for such a piece, allowing the water to influence the form, enveloping the sitter and giving them as close a feeling as possible to being in water.
Inverted Parasol
The inverted parasol does everything a normal garden parasol does, creating shade and protecting from rain. However with its simple alteration, it allows the rain falling upon it to be collected rather than splashing of it. Water collected can be distributed through a hose pipe to storage points around the garden.
